Why Should You Conduct a Windows Registry Scan?

Buying a new PC is like buying a new car; over time, the car requires routine maintenance. Without this maintenance, your car (or PC) can become inept, sluggish, or even useless. While it's true that PCs are replaceable within 6 months because of the vast steps in technology development, it isn't true that you should hand it over based on that fact alone. It is safe to say that a good PC will last you years, much like a good car.

However, buying a new PC means routine maintenance as well and you should always keep this in mind. After a few months if your computer is running slower than when you first bought it, it's time to clean your registry by performing a Windows registry scan. But, being slow isn't the only reason you should scan your registry on your Windows computer.

Have you tried to uninstall something lately and all you're getting is error messages? This could be another indication that it's time to conduct a Windows registry scan. When you aim to uninstall a program, it should usually uninstall with little problem. If the program presents you with pop-up problems and reasons why it can't uninstall it's kind of like going to get the oil changed in your car and they're out of oil. Metaphorically speaking, not changing the oil in your car or scanning your Windows PC registry can create even more problems than just a few simple uninstall errors.

Have you been clicking on that "Call of the Wild" game icon for the past few days to no avail? If you find yourself going into your programs menu just to access a shortcut that was on your desktop in the first place, guess what? It's time to clean the registry. Icons that don't seem to work on your desktop are another indication that it's time to get going on your computer spring cleaning.

These three reasons are the main problems indicative of a dirty registry; consider them red flags. While these are the simplest examples, they are not the only ones that will let you know it's time to clean your registry. Things that can jumble up your registry include online games, the installation and removal of software applications, and upgrades to said applications.

The simplest way to tell you need a registry scan is to pay attention to error messages. If you're still unsure of your computer's need for a registry clean there are several programs and website that will analyze your computer for you in order to determine what your next step should be. A good rule of thumb, however, is to check your registry once every three months to keep it in good health.
